On Tuesday evening, rising star defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny spoke with the media ahead of the Wolverines’ Week 6 bout against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. There, Benny gave some major Michigan football injury news, stating that impact defensive lineman Mason Graham is expected to return to action this weekend in Minneapolis, MN.

Mason Graham is arguably one of the top defensive tackles in the country right now. Through the first three weeks of the year, Graham was a massive part of the Wolverines’ No. 1 ranked defense, which still holds that ranking after another stellar outing in Lincoln, NE, last weekend.
Ahead of the Rutgers game, Mason Graham was abruptly ruled out — Jim Harbaugh said after Michigan’s 31-7 victory in Week 4 that Graham would be out for a week or two. On Tuesday night, just a few days out from the Wolverines’ second road game of the year, Rayshaun Benny updated us on Graham’s status right now.
“We know what our goal is, so we’re just trying to keep building block by block, brick by brick,” Rayshaun Benny said ahead of this weekend’s game against Minnesota. “And even better, we got Mason (Graham) back — he will be back to help.”
This is massive news for Michigan football heading into Week 6 and the remainder of Big Ten play. If you need some insight into how big of an addition Graham is for the Maize and Blue, just take Jim Harbaugh’s word for it. Ahead of the 2023 season, Jim Harbaugh stated that his massive defensive tackle is a “gift from the football gods,” which is something that the 9th-year Michigan football coach has stated a few times since.
This weekend, when the Wolverines hit the field for a primetime Big Ten matchup, watch for Mason Graham to return to the defensive lineup and make an immediate splash.
