In the past couple of days, news of Virat Kohli being dropped from the T20 team has been floating around. According to reports, Ajit Agarkar and his selection committee want to drop him as they believe he will struggle in the slow wickets of West Indies.

Former South African pacer, Dale Steyn, shared his own opinion on it. The 40-year-old, who used to play in Royal Challengers Bangalore, said that Virat Kohli is no longer the first choice. He backed his claim by referencing the fact that he played only 2 T20Is since 2023

I think, look, it's very important that he scores runs because it will put him in a good frame going to the World Cup. There're many guys who have leapfrogged him recently because he's taken a bit of a break and there're many contenders that are possible to take to that World Cup Dale Steyn on Star Sports

Steyn believes Kohli will need to have an incredible IPL season to see himself back in the squad. He believes the experience the Indian star has could play a vital role for him to return, but his form leading up to the tournament needs to be good.

Mohammad Kaif expects Virat Kohli to be in great form during 2024 IPL

Recently on Star Sports, Mohammad Kaif talked about Virat Kohli. Kaif had a lot of praise for the former captain, praising his form since the 2022 Asia Cup. He further predicted that Kohli will have a good 2024 IPL

One special thing about Virat Kohli is that every time he comes back from a break, he plays really well. Most players want to be in touch and play regularly to get in form, but Virat Kohli every time when he comes back from the break, he comes across as a more dangerous batsman. Kaif further said that Kohli’s form would be integral to RCB reaching the 2024 IPL play-offs. His form, along with Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green’s, would be the deciding factor.
