Chicago Bulls News: Lonzo Ball Shares HUGE Injury Update as He Continues to Work His Way to 100%
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

One of the biggest questions the Chicago Bulls are facing this upcoming offseason is the health of Lonzo Ball, who hasn’t played a single NBA game since the 2022-23 season.

Two years is a lot of missed time for Lonzo Ball, and his comeback couldn’t come soon enough for Chicago Bulls fans. Lonzo Ball is still rehabbing his knee, and he recently provided an update on his status on his new podcast, The WAE Show (What an Experience).

“It’s coming along, man. Week by week,” the eldest Ball brother said. “It’s improving, so that’s all I can ask for. Still not where I want it to be. Out of 100 (percent), I’d say I’m about 70 (percent). Good enough to play, but it could still get better. I still got a long summer ahead of me. But definitely looking forward to the future.”

Last month, Lonzo Ball’s father LaVar went on record with CBS Sports to complain about his two sons’ injuries, blaming the NBA trainers and the sneakers they wear.

LaVar Ball added that Lonzo was four to five months away from playing 5-on-5 basketball with full contact. If his prediction is right, Lonzo Ball should be available for training camp ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Lonzo Ball’s Chicago Bulls future is uncertain

Lonzo Ball recently picked up his $21.4 million player option for 2024-25, which is a sensible business move considering his checkered injury history.

With changes coming to the Chicago Bulls this summer, there’s growing pressure for Lonzo Ball to get back to being 100 percent fit as soon as possible and ball out for the team next season since it will make or break his NBA career.

In his debut campaign with the Chicago Bulls, Lonzo Ball averaged 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.8 steals per contest while shooting 42.3 percent from three-point range. When healthy, the 25-year-old guard was one of the top two-way guards in the NBA.
