49ers' Brock Purdy plans to reach out to HOF QB before Super Bowl

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is turning to a Hall of Fame source in search of wisdom ahead of the biggest game of his life.

On Friday, Purdy revealed that he intends to reach out to one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Steve Young, to pick his brain before Super Bowl LVIII.

If Purdy is looking for someone who has been in his shoes and found success doing it, he'd be hard-pressed to find a better option than Young. Before his enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Young played 15 seasons in the NFL, 13 with San Francisco, where he was a two-time MVP, seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro.

However, most importantly, Young was two for two in games with the Lombardi Trophy on the line. He led San Francisco to wins in Super Bowl XXIV and XXIX, in which he was named MVP after throwing six touchdown passes in a 49-26 thrashing of the then-San Diego Chargers.

Young and Purdy have spoken recently, but this time should hold a lot more weight and might come with questions asked for the first time.

A few weeks ago, the two shared a sit-down interview on the 49ers' YouTube page. However, the stakes were much lower then, and much of the conversation focused on faith.

This time around, cameras won't capture what's said. It'll be a moment between two men who already share a few common bonds and could be a little over a week away from sharing one more. Furthermore, it's Purdy's opportunity to get a unique insight into the Super Bowl experience from one of only a handful of people who can supply it.
