Former Illinois Football QB Features in Super Bowl Commercial

Tommy Cutlets! For the first time in what feels like an eternity, there is some Illinois involvement in the Super Bowl. First and foremost, former Illinois Football lineman, Nick Allegretti, will be starting for the defending champs, Kansas City Chiefs. Allegretti has quickly become a Super Bowl veteran after some very tough years at the University of Illinois. In addition, Tommy Devito continues to build on his celebrity status. After taking the world by storm with his incredible story, Devito was most recently featured in a commercial for Pizza Hut.

A Season to Build on

After a great year in Champaign, Tommy Devito made the most of his NFL opportunities. Though the franchise he plays for is chronically bad, Tommy did inject some life into the New York Giants. Devito threw for an efficient 1101 yards and had 8 touchdowns to 3 interceptions. Given that Tommy was constantly scrambling for his life, that is quite impressive. Through 9 games, Devito was sacked 37 times. As a result, he did end up missing some games in between his magical run. The New York Giants are a rebuilding franchise and they will hopefully keep Tommy around in their cornerback room.

Tommy is slowly becoming one of the most famous Illinois Football players ever. On top of that, Devon Witherspoon, Sydney Brown, and Quan Martin all had extremely impressive rookie campaigns. The Illini presence is growing in the NFL. That is a credit to the players and coaching staff that have arrived since the Tim Beckman era. That presence will only increase.
