Watch: Caleb Williams shows immense emotion after going No. 1 to Bears

It was a moment years in the making for Caleb Williams, now the expected franchise quarterback for the Chicago Bears.

It's the culmination of his 2,624 yards and 26 touchdowns as a five-star high school quarterback in 2018 or the 1,912 yards and 21 touchdowns he threw in 2021 as the quarterback of the Oklahoma Sooners.

It was his decision to follow then Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley to USC, where Williams won the Heisman Trophy after a brilliant 2022 season. It was even a rough and tumble 2023 season that saw Williams battle through ups and downs as USC was not the dominant team it was expected to be.

It all led up to this moment, when the Bears took Williams No. 1 overall:

That moment right there is why we love the draft. It's the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.

The blood, sweat and tears of elite athletes all come down to moments like these.

For Williams, it was undoubtedly a dream come true. And now, he must traverse the expectations of one of the biggest sports cities in the United States as he looks to lead Chicago in 2024 and beyond.
