Remember The Celtic Star breaking this story around six weeks ago about the ticket allocation for the Glasgow Derby? We told you that Celtic could be getting around 2750 tickets for Ibrox as negotiations were underway to end the away fan lock-out at the Glasgow Derby matches.

Well the latest news is that this looks like being introduced for next season after an agreement has been reached, with our away allocation for Ibrox being set at a slightly lower number of 2500.  That means as expected there will be no Celtic supporters in attendance a week on Sunday when the teams meet at Ibrox and also none of their supporters at Celtic Park in the final Scottish Premiership meeting of the season which will happen after the split.

Celtic rightly refused 700 tickets for the corner at Ibrox in the first Glasgow Derby match of the season in September 2023, citing safety and security concerns after SEVEN serious assaults occurred in that dangerous corner, with bottles and other objects being thrown.  And theRangers AGREED with Celtic that the area was unsafe for Celtic supporters, promising to install nets around the section in an attempt to keep the animals out.  That has not happened and Celtic would not accept tickets for Ibrox for the corner even if offered.

The 2012 formed Ibrox club then attempted to force Celtic to provide them with an allocation for the match at Celtic Park but 1887 formed Parkhead club held onto all 60,000 tickets and for the second Glasgow Derby of the season, the points were Celtic’s.

Now according to Scottish Sun, the SPFL have sought to negotiate a solution and plan to use UEFA rules to find a way forward. These Uefa rules state that all clubs should allocate five per cent of the stadium to away supporters – and this will be adopted for this fixture going forward.  That would see Celtic receiving around 2500 tickets for Scottish Premiership visits to Ibrox while in return they would receive 3000 ticket for Celtic Park, which has a bigger capacity of 60,000.
